Orenburg military education during the Great reforms of the 1860s in the context of transforming the system of military educational institutions of the country

Abstract
The article, based on the paperwork of the federal archives, as well as the manuscript department of the Russian State Library and other primary sources, reveals the process of reforming the Orenburg Neplyuev cadet corps. The procedure for reorganizing an educational institution is correlated with similar operations carried out in other military educational institutions of the country, in particular, the Siberian Cadet Corps. The government justification of the reforms is presented, the preparatory measures for them in 1863—1864s are described. Based on statistical data, the state of the Orenburg educational institution in comparison with similar institutions of the country is demonstrated, the specifics of the object under study are revealed. The article makes a comparative analysis of the Orenburg and Siberian cadet corps in the mid-1860s and characterizes the state of the military educational institutions of Orenburg in the new realities of the second half of the 1860s — early 1870s. It also presents the corresponding assessments and conclusions, containing a certain amount of scientific novelty.
