Abstract
The article presents the results of the analysis of sources on the history of Orenburg television based on the archives of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting in the State Archives of the Russian Federation. These archives contain a rich and diverse collection of material, including official evaluations of the studio’s performance by the State Committee, statistical data, personnel records, and much more. It is concluded that the collection is important for studying the history of television in the Orenburg Region. Despite the value of these archives, a complete reconstruction of the history of Orenburg television requires using documents from not only federal but also regional archives, which contain information on local development of television, financing, and management. A comprehensive approach, combining documents from various levels of the archival system, will allow for a comprehensive picture of the development of Soviet regional television broadcasting, using the Orenburg region as an example.
